Alright everyone, I know you could not resist the luring temptation of all those advertised and surprise Black Friday specials. So tell me, did you brave the weather and stand in line at a brick and mortar store or did you nearly wear out your mouse refreshing the page for the one “gotta have it” item on your favorite website?
Well, I must confess, I did not purchase anything on any Black Friday site though I almost pulled the trigger several times on different sites on GPS units. My problem is that while they were all great units, they just did not have all the options I wanted. Yeah, I kind of want the Cadillac of GPS units but at the Chevy price (does that mean anything any more?). There were several units right at the magic $100 price point, but they all lacked one or more options that just made me think twice. I can better justify paying more for an item that has all the options I want versus a lower priced item that does not have everything I want and then to just go buy the more expensive one later.
Then there was the “WOW, what a great price for the (insert name of item) that I was not looking for!” Yeah, I saw a few items that had a killer price for something that I was not in the market for but know the deal was too good to ignore. But, a check for reviews, or a lack there of, and a realization that I could better spend, or better yet, SAVE my money over whelmed me. I guess I’m getting better at curbing my impulse buying. Two years ago I would have had a virtual shopping cart filled to the point of tipping over, if that is even possible.
Now I did do some Christmas shopping over night and I did get a good price for what I was looking for. While watching QVC, and trying to digest a great Thanksgiving Day dinner, my wife and I saw a pair of boots that she liked at an awesome price. She had tried a couple of stores in the area and could not find anything in the style she liked in her size. Our sister-in-law and my wife’s scrapbooking partner each have the style of boots my wife wanted and it bummed her out.
Well, QVC did not carry the size she needed either and so she just rolled over to go to sleep. I, being the tenacious hunter, and hopped up on Mt. Dew Code Red (yeah I found a new supplier, but that is another post), looked up the maker of the boots and what to my wondering eyes should appear? A website with BOOTS that nearly made me cheer. So I checked and found that they did have her size in stock and the price was even less than at QVC when you figure in the shipping and tax! Wow, serendipity baby!
So while I’ writing this, sitting in my easy chair and surfing the Black Friday on-line deals (hoping for a super secret special), my wife is out beating the crowds with a friend looking for something interesting and just enjoying the experience.
I should text her to bring back a Starbucks Mocha and to stop at a Bed, Bath, & Beyond to pick up some more K-Cups for the Kuerig. Hold on while I do that ….. OK, coffee crisis averted. Now to get back to surfing. I’m sure to find something to buy if I look hard enough, right?

Here is the latest email to me from Blackfriday.info:
We just wanted to send over a quick update on what to expect tonight going into Black Friday. First, Best Buy has announced that they are putting their Black Friday items for sale online tonight starting around 1:00am EST – 2:00am EST (Thanksgiving morning). Some retailers will be putting their Black Friday items online even earlier. The sale times include:
* Newegg.com sale starting at 6:00pm EST (Wednesday)
* Sam’s Club sale starting at 11:00pm EST (Wednesday)
* Sears sale starting at 9:00pm EST (Wednesday)
* Walmart Thanksgiving Day Specials starting at 3:00am EST (Thanksgiving)
* Walmart Black Friday sale starting at 3:00am EST (Black Friday)
* Toys R Us Black Friday sale starting at 12:01am EST (Thanksgiving)
* OfficeMax Black Friday sale starting at 8:00am EST (Thanksgiving)
* Target, Kohls, JC Penney, and other Black Friday sales will begin on Thanksgiving morning.
Some of the Black Friday sales have even started already! The biggest sales going on right now are from Amazon.com, Dell, and MacMall. As we mentioned before, Amazon.com is releasing new deals every day this week and today’s featured deal is a LG BD270 Blu-ray Disc Player for $99.99.

To help make your Black Friday shopping even easier, we just put together a “Shop by Circular” section on the Available Online page on BlackFriday.info. In this section, you can browse through the black friday advertisements and shop directly off of the circular. All you need to do is click the item you are interested in and it will immediately bring you to the item on the retailer’s website. Keep in mind that most of the sales do not start till late Wednesday night or early Thanksgiving morning. Once the retailer’s sale begins online, we will post a note on the circular to let you know that the Black Friday prices are now live.
To shop directly off the Best Buy circular, go to:
http://www.blackfriday.info/online/bestbuy/
To shop directly off the Target circular, go to:
http://www.blackfriday.info/online/target/
Also, to help give you an edge this Black Friday, we brought back our product tracking tracking system which will watch for when the Black Friday items are available to purchase online and update our Available Online page with direct links to the products. Your personalized shopping list will also be updated to show you which products are available to purchase online right now. Black Friday items sell out very quickly, so we suggest that you bookmark our Available Online page (linked below) and check it often from midnight tonight right through Black Friday for an up to date list of what is available to purchase online.
To see the latest Black Friday deals that are available online, go to:
http://www.blackfriday.info/online/
If you go to the stores on Black Friday and find that an item you were looking for is sold out, there might still be a chance to get it. Throughout Black Friday and right through the weekend, many Black Friday items that are sold out in the stores will still be available to purchase online. Also, starting on Cyber Monday, we’ll be posting a ton of deals from online merchants like Overstock.com, BestBuy.com, and Walmart.com.
Thanks for subscribing and please be sure to share this email or website with friends and family so they can enjoy this exciting week.
